Saturday (7th) saw our friendly at Egham, to help them celebrate their centenary. A closely fought battle took place, disappointingly though West Ealing lost overall by just a single shot 107-108. Top triple for the day was Dave Godfrey, John Townley and John Carey who romped home 27-11.
On Sunday (8th), another road-trip saw West Ealing head off to Putney Town to kick off their RBL League campaign. It was a tight game, which West Ealing eventually turned their way and all outcomes were still possible going in to the last end. In the end West Ealing came through 52-50, with each club winning a rink and one tied giving us a 2.5-1.5 points win. The quartet of Ejaz Faruqi, Bob Wilsher, Robin Innes and Barry Wheeler took home "Paul's Pens" for top rink.
On the same day, three of our women were taking part in the Middlesex John's Trophy Trial. We hope Janine, Kaz and Sue hear good news soon.
Looking ahead, competitions are now beginning in earnest.
On Wednesday (11th) the quartet of Janine, Kazza, Paul W and John Carey travel the short distance to Brentham to take on Ray Goodall's rink in the B.E.Mixed Fours
On Thursday (12th) we are hosting Middlesex County men's side, who are playing Buckinghamshire starting at 2pm. We have a few member playing, including Pedro turning out for the county for the first time. If you have nothing on and fancy a few hours watching come on down.
Also on Thursday, we have two Ad-Fin matches. The A Team are away to North Greenford and B Team are away to Featherstone. Both start at 2pm, so plenty of support choices. An Ad-Finem page will be added to this website shortly to enable you to chart their progress.
Further ahead, Sunday 15th sees our four of Paul Wilsher, Rob Green, Craig Hill and Barry Wheeler travel to Old Coulsdon BC in Surrey to represent Middlesex in the Home Counties Fours semi finals at 10am against Sidley Martlets of Sussex, with the winners playing either Kent or Hampshire at 2pm (timings subject to change).
Closer to home on Sunday, we have a home friendly against Hendon (2:30pm start).
West Ealing's two Bowls England contests with Brentham have new been fixed.
The Top Club battle at Mervyn Road will take place on 25th May at 6pm, whilst the Double Fours contest away at Brentham will be on 7th June, also at 6pm.
