Weekly Round-Up
Monday 16th May 2022

Sunday saw West Ealing lift their first trophy of the season. Representing Middlesex, the quartet of Paul Wilsher, Rob Green, Craig Hill and Barry Wheeler travelled to Old Coulsdon BC in Surrey to contest the Home Counties B.A. Fours.

Having already beaten Carterton of Oxfordshire earlier in the year, they were faced with a semi-final tie against Sidley Martlets of Sussex. West Ealing proved too strong for their Bexhill-based opponents, who conceded after 19 ends with the score 21-11.

On to the final, with Bearstead and Thurnham of Kent the opponents. West Ealing twice opened up a lead, but the Kent side battled back both times. However, with the day's constant drizzle turning in to something more persistent, West Ealing were not to be denied. After 18 ends, with West Ealing ahead 26-18, Kent shook hands.

On Thursday (12th) we hosted Middlesex County men's side, who played Buckinghamshire. Although it resulted in a win for Bucks, it was a notable day for WE's Peter Howland, who represented Middlesex for the first time, earning him his Colt's Badge

Also on Thursday, both West Ealing teams were in Ad-Finem action. The A Team were away to North Greenford winning 1 rink each but losing overall giving a 1–2 points score line. Meanwhile, the B Team were also away, to Featherstone. They also won 1 rink and lost 1 but won overall so 2-1 points.

Yesterday (Sunday) saw a friendly against Hendon. This is a new fixture for us, but it won't be the last. Although exact details are unavailable, Hendon ran out winners.
