West Ealing's hopes of lifting the Middlesex Men's Double Fours title fell at the penultimate hurdle.
In the semi-final, played at Hendon BC, Ashford took an early lead and, despite a fightback by West Ealing, they held on to win and will meet Poplar in the Final.

In other Middlesex competitions, there were wins for Sue Butcher in the women's singles and for Paul Cater and Paul Wilsher's duos in the Men's Pairs.

In the Men's fours Robin Innes's quartet won through, but the holders are out. Paul Wilsher, Rob Green, Craig Hill and Barry Wheeler last at Ealing Central.

In Bowls England competitions, Kaz Ryan and Sue Butcher are through to the area semi-final of the Over 55 Pairs, after an extra end win of North London duo of Wanda Grzegorczyk and Jo White. They now travel to Bush Hill Park. Whilst Chris and Rob Ryan progressed in the Family Pairs with a whopping 17-2 victory over the Hackwell's of Ashford

Saturday's home friendly against Mid Surrey resulted in a narrow, 6 shot victory for our visitors.
