Weekly Round-Up
Monday 11th July 2022

There were mixed fortunes for West Ealing teams in the Quarter Finals of the Men's Middlesex Fours, a trophy we currently hold.

Victory for the quartet of Chris Ryan, Jay Head, John Carey and Paul Cater, over Matt Larman's four from Ashford will now see them face Tom Smith's four from Paddington in the Semi finals over at Broomfield.
Sadly our other rink of John Townley, Andy Nudds, Rob Ryan and Robin Innes played Mark David Laws' four over at Ealing Central. Unfortunately the run ended there. But a great achievement to reach that stage, especially for 2 of our newer bowlers.

In other Middlesex competitions, Janine Bancroft played Joyce Westlake of Hayes in the Middx Champion of Champions, progressing in to the next round with a nice win.

In Bowls England competitions, Megan Hunt, Sue Butcher, Craig Hill and Barry Wheeler came up against former West Ealing players Kerry and Martin Payne over at Ashford in the Mixed Fours and returned home with a 25-7. They now face Jo White (Bounds Green) in the Area Final.

In the Over 55 Pairs, Karen Ryan and Sue Butcher unfortunately bowed out to Bush Hill Park.

In other games, West Ealing's good start in the Ealing and District 321 League continues, as they did the double over Ealing Central. A 6-2 home win followed the earlier 5-3 away victory, putting them close behind the teams at the top, but with games in hand.

The Richmond Barnes League campaign took a turn for the worse, when West Ealing travelled to North Sheen. They cam away with nothing to show for their efforts, having lost 0-4 on points (46-82). This setback was temporary, as the following day, we hosted Hurlingham Park. The visitors yurned up a rink short, and once the required penalties had been enforced, West Ealing ended with a 4-0 points win (51-26). Those two results leave West Ealing still top of the group, but with North Sheen now making a move up the table.
The Hurlingham Park match was memorable for the attendance of Sky News. Full details of their visit can be found here.
