West Ealing's home R&B League match against Hurlingham Park featured some unexpected guests. A phone call about halfway through resulted in the arrival of Sky News reporter Matthew Thompson along with his cameraman, looking to do an article piece about the hot weather and the related Heat Health Alert.

Matthew chatted to spectators and a couple of players for about an hour, whilst his cameraman got the required footage, before conducting a "piece-to-camera" and a few interviews.

He was unclear as to exactly when the article would be shown, due to "editorial decisions", but that it would either form part of Kay Burley's show, or The Early Rundown prior to that.

Eventually it was the latter, and was shown at c.5:20am and also an hour later. As is always the case with such things, an hour of filming was edited down to about a minute of action and a brief extract of the interviews with our own Dave Carter and visitor Joan Kirk.
